School Leaving Procedure

IMES Graduation Requirements

To graduate from the International Master’s Program Of Applied Economics and Social Development (IMES), students must meet a number of requirements and criteria.

The program is designed to be completed in 2 years with a maximum study time of 4 years. During this time students must complete a total of 33 credits of graduate-level courses, including 9 credits of required courses.

In addition to their regular courses, students must write a thesis and complete the research ethics examination, pass the research proposal defense and thesis oral defense.

Graduation Process

Once students pass their final dissertation defense, they need to complete the graduation process to be able to get their official diploma.

Please bear in mind that students often need to authenticate their diploma with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for international validation. Please refer to the Bureau of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for further information on this issue and see additional information below.

Go to the Thesis Uploading Portal at the NCCU Online Library and click “Upload Papers”. Enter your credentials and begin the process.

Both the thesis uploading manual and NCCU watermark are available at the portal (not required for electronic files being uploaded).

For e-upload, use the following format:

  1. Title
  2. Other title page
  3. Table of Contents
  4. List of Figures and Tables (if applicable)
  5. Abstract
  6. Main Body
  7. References

Once the uploading file process is completed, it will take some time (from a few minutes to several hours) for the Library to verify it.

Students will receive a notification via email.

Students must print out the “Letter of Authorization for Thesis and Dissertations” and include it in their dissertation-bound copy.

After uploading the dissertation online, pick up the “Eligible Paper/Accreditation Letter” form signed by the dean, and include it in the hard copies along with the “Letter of Authorization for Thesis and Dissertation”.

Two copies of the thesis must be submitted to the NCCU Main Library. One copy of the thesis should be submitted to the IMES Office. Either the hard-bound or soft-bound thesis is allowed for final submission.

Printing shops usually take 3-4 working days (fewer days with an additional fee). We recommend that students  print their dissertation at the printing shop on campus.

Please make sure to follow the required format before printing (download the complete guidelines in the Downloads section):
